Massive Firing -- You Can't Do Dat to Brit!

UCLA Medical Center is terminating at least 13 staff members and suspending at least six others for looking at the confidential medical records of Britney Spears while she was hospitalized there.

The LA Times reports that in addition to these firings, at least six doctors will face disciplinary action for snooping into her computerized records at the hospital.

According to the Times, UCLA officials admitted this wasn't the first time Spears' privacy had been compromised. Several employees were caught snooping into her records in September 2005 after she gave birth to her first son, Sean Preston, at Santa Monica-UCLA Medical Center. A few of those employees were fired as well.

Spears was admitted to the hospital on January 31 -- after being placed on a "5150 hold" when it was determined she posed a danger to herself or others. She was released February 6.

39. Well, I guess that pretty much validates TMZ's assertion that "sources inside UCLA Medical Center tell TMZ" when TMZ was reporting on Britney during her hospitalization.

If she isn't personally working on the records that she's looking at or doesn't have another valid reason for looking at them, then she should be fired. Every person on the planet has the right to privacy when it comes to their medical files.

42. Newsflash,people-in the U.S.,your medical records are as confidential as the front page of the NY Times;

In your physicians' office,who handles paperwork? File clerk,nurse,med. assistant,insurance coder,transcriptionist.
Do you have medical insurance? Paperwork is seen/handled by claims office,file clerks,coders.
Ever filed lawsuit as a plantiff,perhaps for injuries resulting from car accident? The defendants' side requests your medical records from all physicians you've seen to determine whether or not you had pre-existing condition,and all these records are seen/handled by file clerks,paralegals,transcriptionists,as well as file clerks at Dr.s' offices.
Ever called Dr.s' office after hours for Rx refill? The people at answering service enter your request into computer so as to have legal record ,then relay call to your physician.
