Massive Firing -- You Can't Do Dat to Brit!

UCLA Medical Center is terminating at least 13 staff members and suspending at least six others for looking at the confidential medical records of Britney Spears while she was hospitalized there.

The LA Times reports that in addition to these firings, at least six doctors will face disciplinary action for snooping into her computerized records at the hospital.

According to the Times, UCLA officials admitted this wasn't the first time Spears' privacy had been compromised. Several employees were caught snooping into her records in September 2005 after she gave birth to her first son, Sean Preston, at Santa Monica-UCLA Medical Center. A few of those employees were fired as well.

Spears was admitted to the hospital on January 31 -- after being placed on a "5150 hold" when it was determined she posed a danger to herself or others. She was released February 6.

16. 10. Hmmm, 13 fired, 6 suspended, all "staff members"... but DOCTORS who snooped are only getting "disciplinary action"? Shouldn't doctors be held to the same standards as the others, considering they also broke the law?

20. That behavior is outrageous. Doctors are no better than the staff, and should be fired too. Their ethics went right out the window. This should be interesting in the days to come. britaculous / lawdawg - get ready - here come the lawyers, and here come the law suits. Bella

21. Great. But what about at Cedar Sinai, and the incompetent staff that nearly killed several patients with overdoses of heparin, including the Quaid twins?

What if you were in her situation? She deserves her privacy while she gets well and deals with whatever she needs to. Then she can entertain us in any of the ways she already has. Good luck, Brit!

26. get over it. they're doctors/nurses. It just comes with the territory. My issue would be if they SOLD IT TO TMZ. you sound like a bunch of hypocrites. preaching privacy...? You're on a website devoted to the undermining of anything private. bunch of spastic apes. I'm sure the medical center is actually doing the firings because someone in spears' camp is threatening to file some sort of suit. Not easy to replace 13 skilled workers.
If you don't trust you're doctor, or the profession, go live out in the woods. It's over for you.

30. The hospital firing of the nurses but giving the doctors disciplinary action is discrimination. Why do the doctors receive a lesser punishment when what they did was just as bad?
