Carrot Top grew up in Florida where his father, Randy Weigand, was a scientist at NASA.[2] He graduated from Cocoa High School in 1983.[3] He is a graduate of Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton.[2] When someone suggested he try out for the college talent show he tried a few old jokes, but found real success the next year when he added a few props to his act.
