Kelly to Clive: Shove It!

Kelly Clarkson vs. Clive Davis "Idol" champ Kelly Clarkson has used her music muscle against her record label head, Clive Davis -- and won!

Well-connected record company sources tell TMZ that Clive likes to exercise "creative control" over artist recordings and wasn't happy at all with Kelly's latest album, "My December." There are unconfirmed reports Clive wanted to shelve the entire album. TMZ has confirmed that the 75-year-old music mogul asked for "significant" changes and wanted to put the brakes on the CD. But Clarkson wasn't having any of it -- especially since she wrote/co-wrote all the tracks on the record.

Sources tell us that Clarkson stood up to him and flat out refused to give in, and in the end she got her way.

One source told TMZ there is "deep tension" between Clarkson and Davis, adding, "She's definitely upset, but she's not a stupid girl."

"My December" drops July 24. Kelly performed one of the album's tracks on "Today" this morning.

61. Kelly is greatly overrated butr does has some talent and should not get ahead of herself.Perosnally I am not fond of her but Clive is a musical genius.

63. You go Kelly!!! She has every right to go against Clive after all it her album right?
and for someone who just won 3 ASCAP awards let her write her own music. Clive didnt even want Bedause of You on the album let alone a single and it became HUGE!! She also arranged Since U Been Gone that got her a Grammy and she wrote most of her last album that got a Grammy . not to mention she came up with all of the videos for her singles of which one holds an unbroken record at most days at #1 on trl. her other videos were also at #1 3/4 of the time. her videos which she created have also won her VMAs.
SO CLIVE LET HER DO WHAT SHE'S DOING CUZ IT SEEMS TO BE WORKING!!!!

64. Well, good for Kelly. I applaud her and hope she is a door opener to many who have been stepped on and nearly ruined by Mr. Davis and his controlling, strong personality. I know Clay Aiken is being punished severely for not obeying...let's hope this is a new beginning for all

After Kelly's first album, "Thankful," came out, it didn't really do that well. Her second album, though, "Breakaway," did EXTREMELY well!! Why the difference? Clive Davis wasn't a part of the musical party the 2nd time around. That allowed Kelly to finally exercise her writing chops & have total control over the way her album was to be perceived, and she ended up getting 2 grammies for her efforts.

And there she is, about to release her third album, "My December," and this prick has the BALLS to try and tank the whole damn thing???!!! PATHETIC!!! Clive Davis has to get over the fact that he's lost his "magic" touch, get the HELL out of the way and let Kelly be herself. It's the reason she's a big musical star now.

Kelly will do fine no matter what. She was a lyricist, mysician long before AI and will continue to be one no matter how her third album sells. Artists (and, yes, she IS an artist) get bored and need to experiment sometimes with different forms of expression and that's what she has done with My December.

This is Kelly's 3rd album and one her 1st album she has NO SAY whatsoever in it and look, to this day it is the lowest selling album of hers and on her 2nd album she wrote a few of the songs but had to GO THROUGH HER LAWYER to get her song 'BECAUSE OF YOU' on the album cause the record company did NOT like it. And now look at what a success BECAUSE OF YOU has been, she performed it on the Grammy's as well which is where she won 2 GRAMMY'S!!!!

Now that this 3rd album has all of her material I think it will be JUST AS BIG if not BIGGER than her 2nd album. Clive needs to chill it is that simple. Kelly knows EXACTLY where she is right now as a musican and she is NOT STUPID! This album is sort of like a story bringing a year to an end, hince the name 'MY DECEMBER!' Kelly is very smart and she knows exactly what she wants and SHE DESERVES IT! Shes won 2 Grammy's now and she has won an award at every award show out there to this date!!! (Including Award Shows from other countries!!!)

And for people saying her album is scrapped WHATEVA! Kelly wrote these with-in the past 2 years and they have been recording these songs since LAST SUMMER when she was on tour over in Europe, thats when they started recording so don't even try to tell me that this album is THROWN TOGETHER and SCRAPPED! It is 100% FALSE!!!

70. kelly clarkson is amazing and always will be! every album is different and i'm sure it will continue to be! maybe her 4th album will be country?! but the new heavy rock kelly is awesome and i can imagine that her concerts will be too! she has such a powerful voice therefore can sing any type of music an pulls it off each time! her new singe Never Again roxs i love it, its full of emotion and i'm shaw David Hodges the guy who its about will be very embarrassed!! can't believe the people who voted yes!!!!!!!!!! why?!

Didn't sound like anything extraordinary anyway.

Overrated? LOL! Dont' think so. She's been one of the top selling female artists for several years, a recent Grammy winner and recently won Songwriter of the Year with her song "Because of You" - chosen by, guess who - other songwriters.

75. I can't wait for Kelly's CD. I'm buying tickets for her tour pre-sale tomorrow. I've heard about 5 of her songs from My December so far and I love them!!! I can't wait for the CD!!!
