Gwen and P!nk Cut From "Idol Gives Back"

While no contestants were eliminated on "American Idol" last night, two other singers were -- Gwen Stefani and P!nk!

Last night's "A.I." charity benefit concert, "Idol Gives Back," included performances by Kelly Clarkson, Josh Groban -- even a pre-taped-from-the-crypt Celine Dion/Elvis Presley duet -- which TMZ exclusively revealed on Monday. But Gwen and P!nk -- who had been previously announced as participants -- failed to get any screen time! Oh no they dit'nt!

Both Gwen and P!nk had pre-taped their performances, so their appearances just needed to be edited into the "live" telecast. Sources tell TMZ that the lovely ladies were "cut for time," and their segments should air on upcoming episodes of "Idol."

Well, thank God they found time for that idiotic "Stayin' Alive" montage and Il Divo!

33. THEY CUT CONSTANTINE MAROULIS TOO!

Constantine was the best thing to ever come out of idol and he taped a piece for them to used on the show. Once again the powers that be at American Idol chose to disrespect Constantine by cutting his part from the show.

Constantine has promoted AI in every sound bite and press junket he has done for them. And once again AI slaps him in the face.

Why can't they give this handsome and talented man a break? Has he not broken his back enough for you?

35. American Idol has cheapened itself by begging for donations, no matter how worthy the cause.
Idol is supposed to be entertainment - an escape - not a TELETHON!!!

37. I really hate it when filthy rich celebrities beg the general public for money. They could have found 30 celebrities to give 1 million each.. which seems like a ton to us but, is the equivalent of about $100 to a hard working family. I know I probably seem quite cynical but, I was really disappointed in the show. They had hyped it up as being the best thing ever.. and then when all was said and done I felt like we the viewer just got scammed. What they did to Jordin was possibly the meanest thing I have ever seen!! It was all set up to make it seem like her or Melinda would be leaving when Ryan talked about how "shocking" the results were going to be!! It seemed like a ploy to keep the veiwers tuned in.. and clearly they felt they needed the ploy because the show itself was rather dull.
I do commend the effort but, what would have been wayyy more interesting and probably better received would have been to have Ex-Idol contestants show up and perform.. solo, and together and maybe let everyone know what they have been up to. It would have seemed more sincere for them to request money.. not a bunch of pampered celebs.

41. I agree with all those who ask why do rich celebrities beg the working class for $10??? C'mon, Madonna, Simon, Ellen, Nigel Lithgo, even Ryan Seacrest, etc...HOW MUCH DID U GIVE??????? They earn huge amounts of $$$ and don't pay for their clothes, food, hotels, NOTHING! Everyone gives them freebies, let them donate. The height of hyposcrisy was Exxon Mobil's sponsorship! Ha, how much are you paying for gas people??? WAKE UP AMERICA!!!

42. Aren't you sick of the Hollyweird Elite telling you how to make the world better? We, the average person should conserve, recycle, go hybrid, go green, cut back, give back and pay outrageous prices to see these clowns in movies and hear them on their CD. I say, put your money where your mouth is.....some of these artist make MILLIONS a year - how about you donate 3 or 4 % of your disposable income and then stop jet setting around the world telling people how concerned and "real" you are. I ain't buying it - how are you conserving, how are you cutting back? We have access to your "riders" we see how overendulged you are.

44. I have no problem with charity, but I agree totally with those comments about these rich celebs attempting to manipulate "average Jane and Joe" Americans into their causes. Each celebrity who appeared on that show could have donated just one percent of their net worth and the total would have easily exceeded the $30 million they raised.

Further, many of the pre-taped segments seemed shallow. So Simon helps get the dying African woman into a car to go to the hospital? Please. Could he possibly do something more than that to really make a difference? One segment started by asking some celebs how many funerals they had attended. Their answeres were obviously canned--six, five, etc. Well, I'm not that old and I've probably been to thirty or forty funerals in my life. Besides, who remembers exactly how many funerals they have been to?

The whole show felt as if it was slapped together in a few hours and the audience was manipulated into watching the whole thing for something that never came anyway.
