Lets Get This Party Started
Imus Slammed by Rutgers Players -- "Why Us?"

Don Imus got an earful from the Rutgers student-athletes he labeled "nappy-headed hos" last night, as he met with them at the New Jersey governor's mansion, for the first time since he made the racist slur that cost him his jobs at MSNBC and, yesterday, CBS Radio. Adding injury to the insult debacle, N.J. Governor Jon S. Corzine was seriously injured in a car wreck on his way to the meeting.

According to Deirdre Imus, Don's wife, who was filling in for him this morning on WFAN, the shock-jock heard from each player on the Rutgers women's basketball team, their coach, some of their parents, and university administrators during the three-hour meeting at the New Jersey governor's mansion. The common refrain from all the players was, according to the New York Daily News, "Why us?"

Deirdre Imus pleaded with listeners to stop sending hate mail to the Rutgers team members – and invited them to send the hate to her husband instead.

J.Lo – Speaking in Scientology?

Jennifer Lopez may have let slip a little Scientology-speak during her appearance on "American Idol," leading people to wonder if she's more involved in the Church than she's letting on.

J.Lo responded to a question from Ryan Seacrest about Simon Cowell's acid tongue by saying she believed that "concentrating on the rightness brings more rightness." According to Rush & Molloy, "rightness" is a central tenet in the L. Ron Hubbard lexicon, and it's no wonder that Lopez has it on the tip of her tongue: Her dad, David Lopez, has been a Scientologist for 20 years, and one of her best friends, actress Leah Remini, is an avowed Church member as well. Still, Lopez has repeatedly denied being involved herself.

Courtney – Oprah's My Thin-spiration

Courtney Love is insisting that she hasn't had gastric-band surgery, as some are whispering, given her newly toned physique – and she's crediting Oprah Winfrey for her weight loss. "I couldn't get that surgery if I begged for it. I got my inspiration from Oprah losing so much weight on Slim-Fast," says Love on her website, as Rush & Molloy point out. Courtney's been spotted in the last couple weeks wearing tiny bikinis and sporting a very flat stomach, leading to all kinds of speculation as to how she dropped the pounds.

Party Favors: Britney Always Looks Good in Those Boots ... Gwen Stefani Says She's "Always" Dieting ... No Leather -- Always -- for Spider-Man

Britney Spears is no Imelda Marcos, apparently – all she needs is one pair of boots, as Us observes. The $170 Kenneth Cole boots – a relative bargain in super-celeb-land – made four separate appearances on Britney in one week, leading Us to wonder if she's spending more time with them than her own kids. ... Gwen Stefani tells People she's been on a diet since the sixth grade, and that when she was pregnant last year, she had to crawl into her brother's car and lay down in the back seat just to go to Target to avoid the glare of the paparazzi. ... "Spider-Man" star Tobey Maguire says he's going totally leather-free – and he's on his way to becoming completely vegan. Maguire doesn't have leather seats in his car, remarkably enough.

61. "I 110% SUPPORT DON IMUS". HE SHOULDNT HAVE GOTTEN FIRED OR APOLOGISED FOR SOMETHING THAT BLACK PEOPLE, BLACK RAPPERS AND BLACK COMEDIANS SAY, SING AND JOKE ABOUT EVERY DAY. MAY THE 2 DEVILS IN SHEEP CLOTHING "JACKSON & SHARPTON..."REST IN HELL".

Posted at 11:59AM on Apr 13th 2007 by DON IMUS FAN

62. I am so tired of white people whining about black people. When two black men say something, they automatically assume the whole race agrees with those two men. The majority of black people don't give a damn about Imus. The majority of black people don't even know who in the world the man is. We don't care if he has a job or not.

63. TMZ - and anyone else buying their headline -

Have you heard the press conference given by the coach?

SHE SHOULD TAKE SHARPTON'S PLACE!!!

No one was slammed!

64. I'd bet big money that NONE of the Rutger girls have EVER listened to Imus' show and certainly didn't hear him when the words were actually spoken. They just got wrapped up in the hype because they wouldn't get attention any other way. Way to ruin a win and steal Tennessee's thunder. Rutgers are sore losers, immature girls who don't understand the impact of a hard working adult loosing their job. I hope they all fail in their future ventures for being big babies who can't just let stuff roll away!

65. #66 and #67

You are showing your stupidity towards this matter at hand. We as white people do not pull the race card every time something doesn't go as planned in our lives. Come on now you know what we are saying...I know you are intelligent enough to see our point!!!!!!

Posted at 12:02PM on Apr 13th 2007 by ROBIN

66. 68. Are you saying that all black people use those words? I'm black and I've never used them. None of my family members or friends have ever used them either.

67. Robin -

A few black people got upset, yet white people on this board are behaving as if every black person in this country got angry. 40 people showed up at Al Sharpton's rally. There are 34 million black people in this country. I cannot speak for all 34 million just like Al Sharpton DOES NOT speak for me. Therefore, you cannont say that all black people play the race card every time somthing happens. You do not know all 34 mil who live in this country. And you cannot say that no white people ever play the race card because you do not know every white person who lives in this country.

68. 69. The only way to remove them from the tv screen is for news stations to stop running to them everytime they want an opinion on racial issues. Those men are not the leaders of black people. We black people don't have leaders because we each represent ourself.

69. To GIna

That is exactly the point ... when a black person gets slammed it immediately becomes a major issue and we as white people are so extremely tired of the tremendous outpouring of hatred and race-card playing ...yes...I said it again. The black community (didn't say all of it) are always ready to picket and raise some hell...it is like they are just waiting with that chip on their shoulder to lash out at the white race and we are fed up!

Posted at 12:14PM on Apr 13th 2007 by ROBIN

70. Why are we still talking about this. This situation was between Imus and the Rutgers team. Unfortunately, other people got involved when they should have stayed out of it, and the media helped fuel the fire. Well, Imus and the team have now met. They talked things out, so everybody needs to MOVE ON and LET IT GO. It's over and done.

71. I'm half Spanish and I cant stand Sharpton and Jackson. If I was black..I would shut them up very soon..

74. Robin -

You are saying that 2 people equals a tremendous outpouring. Out of the people I know, I do not know one black person who got angry over this situation and I don't know one black person who thought he should be fired. And instead of saying "the black community", say "some black people". I agree with what was said earlier when it was asked, "what is the black community"? Do white people refer to themselves as "the white community"?

75. The coach and team forgive Don Imus.
