Casualty of Don? Deirdre Imus Ditches Book Tour

This won't be a pleasant week in the Imus household.

TMZ has learned that Deirdre Imus, wife of Don, has bailed out of two high-profile live appearances on "The View" and "The Martha Stewart Show," in the wake of Don's "nappy-headed ho" slur that has caused a national furor.

In fact, the whole book tour's been nixed.

A rep for Deirdre's publisher, Simon & Schuster, says that the entire promotional tour for "Green This! Volume One: Greening Your Cleaning," which was timed to coincide with the book's debut yesterday, has been postponed indefinitely. "Because of the pressure that the Imus family has been under," says the rep, "family is her first priority at this time."

This morning, several major advertisers pulled their ad dollars from the Imus show, and he's been suspended for two weeks from CBS Radio and MSNBC for his unseemly remarks about the Rutgers University women's basketball team.

77. I applaude Deirdre Imus for putting her family before her book tour. Despite all I feel about Don Imus mouth, the double standard on language, and the rest of this situation, the Imus family will need each other thru this time.

78. She is always selling this and that. I find them making money on everything and then saying all the proceeds go to THEIR RANCH a little hypocritical. How are they going to sell all their junk if they don't have his show and his tv show? Yea a lot of people who had the money would help kids. He is not the only one, but you hear him tell it, he is the only one and then he tries to get a free pass! He gets all kinds of free things and flies around in jets, gets free SUVs, all kinds of stuff. Why do they call the ranch THE IMUS RANCH? WHY NOT THE KIDS WITH CANCER RANCH! HE HAS TO HAVE HIS NAME ON EvERYTHING! SIckening!

79. Since when is Sharpton the poster boy for good behavior. Why doesn't he go and ask professor Jefferies to quit teaching college courses. He never seems to defend white people when racist remarks are made against them, you can't have it only one way.

86. Its a very sad world we live in. The people who employ him are just as guilty. This is what they pay him to do. Money is the root of all evil and this is a good example. How sad that these very talented women have to be dragged through this.

87. I have never liked Imus because of his remarks about others. But part/most of the blame here goes to the stations that have allowed him to talk like he has for all these years. Personally I would have never put him on radio or tv. He is a thoughtless man when it comes to his nasty remarks even though I do realize he has a big heart. But the networks have allowed remarks like this for years and then fire him for one. He has said worse in the past and not even reprimanded. He was always allowed to do this. So I feel it is wrong to not set rules and give him another chance. And remember I hate the way he talks about people. My husband watches him which is the ONOY reason I know who he is. His remarks have always been despicable. But he needs to be warned and given another chance since he has always been allowed to do this. I mean, fair is fair. It's not fair or right legally to fire someone without warnings, write ups, and suspensions first. Don't blame Imus, Blame the stations that have allowed it for several years. Think about it....

88. Does anyone think Diedre would have looked at this witch minus a broom if he was'nt making 30 million a year! His show is terrible and to think the best MSNBC can do is simulcast a radio show is pathetic. Now that Imus has been undressed, his show will never be the same for those who appreciated his rag-time nonsense, of which I am not one.
However, Jessie and Sharpton are certainly in no position to hurl stones. Remember Tawana Brauli? or how quick Sharpton was to offer the liar who destroyed 3 men's reputations in South Carolina a college education (like she could make it through) The fact of the matter is, these vulgar names were brought to light by the rappers.

89. all i got to say is it was meant to be racists he meant it as he said it i know quite a lot white people with knots in their hair all kinds im a hairdresser but the point was what he said was meant to be as what he said to almost a whole black team on young women who have a higher grade point average then he and most others have i think that the womens team is taken this exceptoinally well instead of a whole other way
