"A.I." Finalists Fuming Over "Sanjaya Situation"

Sanjaya MalakarWhile most of the country may have fallen in love with "American Idol" wannabe Sanjaya Malakar, there is one group that is finding his growing popularity a tad irritating -- his fellow "A.I." contestants!

An inside source revealed exclusively to TMZ that some of the remaining "Idol" hopefuls are annoyed that the vocally-challenged 17-year-old continues to advance, while other "more talented" singers get sent home. We're told the contestants are not-so-much mad at Sanjaya, but at the situation, which finds websites like votefortheworst.com and satellite radio host Howard Stern urging fans to keep Sanjaya in -- simply as a joke.

Our source adds that the contestants find it troublesome that they all work so hard to pick the right song and rehearse each week, but it appears that all Sanjaya really has to do to move forward is to show up wearing a scrunchie.

TMZ contacted an "Idol" rep, who had no comment.

62. The judges need to make the decision from now on. It's their fault he's there anyway! I don't know what they ever saw in him, but I don't think he'll win. He may last another week or two until mom and dad get the cell phone bills for all those 12 year olds that are voting 100 times. Then the *&$*# will hit the fan and they won't be voting anymore. Add to that the votes from the ones that get kicked off prematurely that are added to the deserving contestants and he's one his way out the door! Thank GAWD.

63. Remeber Taylor Hicks? He won but his record sales tanked. Should Sanjaya win he will be another Hicks. If the other contestants are really all that good, some R&A rep will pick them up.

65. C'mon people...get a life. I think it's about time that reality tv is exposed for what it really is. It's a joke that you all think that this show is going to change someone's life. (remember Clay whoever or the other broad)? If someone has talent eventually through hard work they will shine. This TV schlock pablum is nothing more than another FOX promo for the rest of the crap they put on.

66. Wouldn't it be wonderful if this show really meant a career for someone. Anyone remeber any of the other winners? Any of them have careers except for "you want fries with that"? I think FOX loves the publicity because it keeps you drones interested in pablum.

67. I agree, the joke is getting tiresome and not in the best interests of the other candidates.
Sanjaya must be getting tired of being the joke too. This is a fun show and the top two or three will do well in the business. It is turning out to be a great way to showcase emerging talent.

68. After this year there will be a new rule saying...if there is one person winning that honestly shouldn't....like Sanjaya....the judges have the right to over rule up to the last 5 contestants. They should not be able to over rule the final say of the winner.

71. Yea not to be redundant but............. ITS NOT FUNNY ANYMORE!!! it actually wasnt even funny in the first place!!! and its soooooooooo unfair to the people who actually have talent. honestly, i think the show could get more publicity by having a real, heated competition with real people who have real talent. this may be a good way to get publicity for now, but its not gonna last and i think the show is gonna die if it doesnt stop.

72. I think the little twirp is cute but, he seriously shouldn't be on the show anymore. There are many deserving American Idol finalists, Sanjaya just isn't one of them. If he would just once bring what we all saw at his audition, maybe all of his popularity would be worth something. Until then, I think he should be sent home.

73. I totally agree with the other contestants. It isn't funny anymore. There are much more talented people on the show and every week they are being voted off because some people think it is a joke to vote for the worse singer. This is someone's future at stake and they are playing games now. The show is not fun anymore. I am watching reruns because Sanjaya is still around. I just knew someone or something was doing this as a joke. I feel if this continues, there should be no more American Idol. It is good talent going to waste.

75. I assume Freebird knows nothing about American Idol or he/she wouldn't have made such a stupid comment! It's sad that one little skinny no talent boy made it on the show at all. Sadder still that a degenerate like Howard Stern still has any kind of impact on the American public.
