ABC "Greatly Dismayed" by Isaiah's Outburst

Isaiah WashingtonABC has gotten around to responding to Isaiah Washington's use of a gay slur at the Golden Globes, and, no, they're not at all happy about it.

The ABC statement, first reported by TV Guide's Michael Ausiello, reads, "We have a long standing policy to create and maintain respectful workplaces for all our employees. We dealt with the original situation in October, and thought the issue resolved. Therefore, we are greatly dismayed that Mr. Washington chose to use such inappropriate language at the Golden Globes, that he himself deemed 'unfortunate' in his previous public apology. We take this situation very seriously, and his actions are unacceptable and are being addressed."

Washington said he had "never" called gay castmate T.R. Knight "a faggot" after Monday's Golden Globes. Knight told Ellen DeGeneres that he had, in fact, heard Washington use the term during a scuffle with Patrick Dempsey on the set of "Grey's Anatomy."

It is unclear when the network will make a decision on Washington's future on the show.

91. It's funny how people are showing their true colors towards blacks. Is the reason he should be fired racially motivated? Would you have said the same thing if he was white? I don't think so. I hope they do fire him. If that happens then every black viewer should boycott this show and many others. When it comes to race, we have the highest number of people who watch television. Also we have the biggest buying power of all groups. The funny thing is that we never use this power. We are all caught up in own lives worrying as long as I have mine and screw my other brothers and sisters. That is why the media and whites don't take us seriously. We spend more on clothes than anyone else because we have to have the flyest gear. We are more likely to buy newer cars more than any other group in the country. If we voted like we should, a difference would be made. The thing is what we don't. Why don't we get a petition going to ABC saying we will boycott their station and products? But you know we won't. The NAACP is a joke. They should be trying to get every black out there to take responsiblity with their lives and do something with it. If he is fired from the show, then all of the ones making negative comments about him on here and in the media will be like, take that you N*gger and you better know your place. About the word N*gger, it does not bother me because it is just a word. I would love to see anyone other than black say that in the hood. I am sure they would be on the ground getting knocked the F*ck out.

92. Of course he should be fired.

A television production set is like any other workplace where there should be an air of professionalism and respect for co-workers regardless of whether the are co-stars, or low-on-the-totem-pole production assistants.

In this case, there are rampant reports from many cast and crew that Washington is a bully on the set and makes the workplace unpleasant. As the saying goes, "where there's smoke there's fire".

Fire his sorry ass just like any other workplace bully and send a message out to all these overpaid, overpriviledged actor divas who think their fame and money gives them license to treat other people like sh*t.

93. I think it's in the constitution if I'm not mistaken. Yeah that part where it's a person right to suck on bannanas and eat pies. Yeah I thought I read it some where.

I think there are bigger problems out there to worry about.

95. I MEAN REALLY.. WHAT'S ALL THE DAYUM FUSS ABOUT???

These Hollywood types act like they should be regarded as royalty. "Don't talk about me! boo hoo hoo. "

Ok so he called the guy a bundle of sticks. Later he goes on to apologize for his comment and commits to reahalb. Why would he do these things if he didn't think that he was unjustified in his comment? With that being said, get off of the guy's back already!! How apologetic should one person be??? He's always been regarded as a talented actor; it's not like he belongs to some racist regime or a racist cult.

He's a person who used the wrong word at the wrong time. PERIOD. It's not like the guy hosts 'Gay bashing Saturdays' at the local pub! He made a dumb comment and received a fair share of back lashing for it. Now can we move on already?!!

how one small incident like that sparked such a national debate is beyond me. Is Hooywood running out of scandals to talk about or something?

97. You can call 818.460.7200 or email the president of ABC at Stephen.McPherson@abc.com to demand the firing of Isaiah Washington.
Please take time out of your busy days to do this. This type of behaviour should not be tolerated.

98. I support Isaiah Washingtonand Iam a fan of the show. I am sure it is not the first time T. R.or his castmates has heard that word. Isaiah was answer a question from the media.I think his castmates and the fans of Grey's Anatomy should get over it. Its not like he call him a faggot out right. I think fans and his castmates should worry about something more important such as soldiers losing their lives in Iraq.
