ABC "Greatly Dismayed" by Isaiah's Outburst

Isaiah WashingtonABC has gotten around to responding to Isaiah Washington's use of a gay slur at the Golden Globes, and, no, they're not at all happy about it.

The ABC statement, first reported by TV Guide's Michael Ausiello, reads, "We have a long standing policy to create and maintain respectful workplaces for all our employees. We dealt with the original situation in October, and thought the issue resolved. Therefore, we are greatly dismayed that Mr. Washington chose to use such inappropriate language at the Golden Globes, that he himself deemed 'unfortunate' in his previous public apology. We take this situation very seriously, and his actions are unacceptable and are being addressed."

Washington said he had "never" called gay castmate T.R. Knight "a faggot" after Monday's Golden Globes. Knight told Ellen DeGeneres that he had, in fact, heard Washington use the term during a scuffle with Patrick Dempsey on the set of "Grey's Anatomy."

It is unclear when the network will make a decision on Washington's future on the show.

61. I I can only imagine how much we'd be hearing if someone had DARED to call Mr. Washington the N word. He is a classless act, and in fact a disgrace to his profession and especially his race. But hey, he can blame all his mistakes on his pathetic climb from slavery to the t.v. screen. Maybe he can call Jesse Jackson or Al Sharpton to speak in his behalf. I, personally, will not watch Grey's Anatomy until this AA is forced to make an apology to T.R. Knight!

63. Gays are just mad that one of them got called out. If it would have been anybody other than a successful black man you wouldn't be hearing a stink about this. Look at all the people Howard Stern, Rush Linbaugh, and YES, even Rosie o'Donald have offended. Guess people would be more satisfied if Washington were see gang banging and drug dealing instead.

64. To straight man and Gisele:

First of all I am a black bitch!, I was not born in Africa nor any of my relatives, so I am not African-American! I am black and can be a bitch sometimes, but not tonight. I'm feeling very serene and zen!

My point was that how would you like to be called a derogatory (in society) name. Us black people (or African-American) don't like to be called niggers by others, we of course, are fully entitled to call ourselves that (???? why, I don't know????), so don't call other people names (like the one he used to described a gay man, or the names I am being called). Karma is a bitch, baby...watch out its coming for you.
My point is made by the name calling that is going on in this thread.

65. Why is it that something tells me if the situation were reversed and Washington was called a nigger twice (or if gays say outed, I would call using that term 'being Richarded'), Al Sharpton and the other opportunistic cowards who hide behind the term 'Reverend' would be commenting and bitching and forming protests and marches and boycotts.
Can't we all just get along. Apparently not.

67. Washington needs to be made an example of his untolerable behavioir by getting fired. It is not ok for a black man/woman to humiliate a non-black by using derrogatory, sexist or racist language against him/her and the worst lied on tv and at the globes. Just like other non-blacks have been held responsible and accountable for their actions l(eq MIchael Richards) when using this kind of language to address a black man/woman.

It is time to do the right thing.

68. If one of the cast memebers had called Isaiah the n-word and shoved him back in October, lied about it, then called him the n-word again as he lied about the first incident, would he still be on Grey's Anatomy?

HELL NO!!!

69. If ABC fires Washington for his offensive remarks, they should also fire Rosie for her daily offensive remarks.

70. you can tell those are non-blacks who say he needs to be fired, not because he may have said what everyone else was probably thinking, if he was white, him being fired would not be an issue. The fact is he IS GAY and should be proud to be gay and not let people comments offend him, you don't have to like the people you work with and everyone doed not always get along. People can call women B****** all day on t.v. in person or whatever and its not a big deal. Just in case you racists did not know the creator of the show is black, so now you racists can stop watching.

71. He has apologized. Geesh. LET IT GO. Hopefully, he'll be more sensitive in the future, but that's certainly no reason to lose a job, for crying out loud. How many of you calling for his firing have never in your life uttered a slur?? And because you made a mistake while you were NOT on the job, you should be fired? That's crazy.

72. ...Maybe it is time for a new storyline for Mr. Washington. He could suffer a slight stroke, as a result of his recent hand surgery, that affects the sex part of his brain; and the result would be that Dr. Burke now desires Grorge's company and not Christina's.
...Since he seems to think he is irreplaceable. let Mr. Washington play that role for a while...or let him walk out the door, donating the balance of his contract to the charity of T. R. Knights' choice. I will admit I really enjoyed his buddy dynamic with George..this shows what brilliant actors both men are; but, it proves one can act brilliantly and still have no redeeming social qualities in one's character. .
...I and I am sure many other fans are extremely disappointed in Mr. Washington's display of bigotry, homophobia and intolerance.
...Kudos to Mr. Knight for being the honorable compassionate gentleman
he is.

73. HEY MAYBE MR. KNIGHT SHOULD CALL HIM A STUPID NIGGER AND I.W. WOULD KNOW ITS THE TRUTH. JUST LIKE KNIGHT KNOWS THAT HE IS A FAGGOT WHATS THE BIG DEAL

75. Castrate the bastard, cut out his tongue, tar and feather him, hang him, do what must be done. Lord knows calling a spade a spade is not permitted in the modern world.
