Wesley Snipes Arrested

Wesley Snipes: Click to watchTMZ has learned Wesley Snipes has been arrested and taken into custody by federal authorities.

The actor was arrested Friday morning after arriving at Orlando International Airport. Snipes said he was a scapegoat and unfairly targeted by prosecutors in connection with a federal tax fraud investigation.

Snipes had been shooting a movie in Namibia.

The "White Men Can't Jump" star is accused of failing to pay nearly $12 million in taxes. Officials allege that Snipes fraudulently claimed refunds in 1996 and 1997, and then failed to file returns between 1999 and 2006.

16. I feel soooo dissappointed Wesley put himself in such lurch. C'mon, Wes, Im in hollywood too, but have not made big like you did, but on my way, But! I've been paying taxes since the eighties. With all your millions, what ARE YOU THINKING? You've just destroyed your fan base. I used to be very proud of you. I do pray that at the end of the day, you're right, and the IRS is wrong. C'mon now!

17. Do you really think he sits down and prepares his own taxes? I doubt it. He may prepare his own taxes but most people with this kind of money have financial advisors that handle their financial affairs, taxes included.

I have friends that are not on his level of wealth that had financial advisors doing everything for them and they found out they actually owed $150,000 to the IRS. Not a big number compared with millions for but for regular folk, it's frightening. They found that they're advisors had been making mistakes with their business profits. So, just because HE earned the money, doesn't mean he was actually ducking the IRS. Not that I am a fan, for anyone who is a fan, don't you want to wait until you have more information than just believing the first thing you read?

18. I tell everyone that I meet that you just don't file a claim for taxes that your fault you have to put your signature on those documents. I think some people really believe you can get away from legal holes with IRS with showing you have the right to pay or not. But in this country no one has won the right to not pay income taxes. For there beliefs. I think if you live here you have to pay. I learned at a young age you have to pay taxes and that's it. But the IRS give everyone a chance to start a buss for a loss to pay less taxes or just give away the money to non-profit but just don't keep it, for a profit then you have pay.

20. I don't care who, what, where you are....laws are made for a reason. Either learn to live within them, strive to change them, or move. If he doesn't want to pay taxes it would be really easy for him to give up his US citizenship and declare it in a nation that doesn't have an income tax. I'm sure he could go to the UN and find all sorts of nations that would love to add his income to their GDP account.

21. Both state and federal income taxes are illegal and always have been: much like freedom of speech, the US is one of the only countries that has it enshrined in the constitution that plebiscites are required, as well as majority votes, for non-proportional taxation. While property taxes, water taxes, school taxes, etc, and many other local taxes were agreed to, neither state nor federal taxes have ever been. Ever.

24. Snipes is a lady beater, so that automatically makes me think he's a loser. But, this not paying taxes just shows how arrogant he is, he thinks he's above the law. Well, Wesley I've news for you....it's time for Karma to take over.

25. So they will arrest someone for not paying taxes, but not for drunk driving or even killing someone while driving under the influence of drugs/alcohol. How f'ed up is this world. If you're a celeb, you won't go to jail/prison unless the feds get involved? That's just wrong.

Yes, Wesley should pay his taxes, but to lock him up? Yeah, what a danger to society. Could be because of his skin color? I'm about to think so, cause I've seen Mel, Rip Torn, Lane Garrison, etc. get busted for DUI & be back out partying the next night. If you ask me, we have our priorities really f'ed up! I've never seen not paying taxes kill innocent people! Stop the planet! I want to get off!!

27. At least he didn't cheat on his wife by sleeping with his co-star and then make the biggest publicity move in all of history over a bastard baby that no one in their right mind should care about. Maybe he can take a lesson from Pitt and do the hugest "like me again because I'm charitable" publicity campaign in all of history. Yeah, Snipes should take lessons from the pig-headed cheaters in Hollywood. That's the ticket...

28. Only way to fairly tax in a capitalist society is through sales tax, not income tax, with significant and carefully monitored deductions for charitable donations. Make all you want, but if you want to spend it, you have to spend a fair portion on the common good.

29. Hey "Kid Arugula" (post 15):

Let us all know when you move out of mommies house because you are just too damned stupid to understand the real world. I pay more taxes in a year then you will your entire life, fact. You gotta love these liberals sleazeballs. Always willing to spend someone elses money but never their own.
