Celebrity Feuds
Martha Bitchslaps Rachael Over Barry

Martha Stewart threw rival talk-show diva Rachael Ray into her wicker-and-jute ring this morning, and, in her inimitably patrician way, gave her a verbal smackdown for daring to air her show with Barry Manilow at exactly the same time Her Martha-ness did.

At 10 am in New York, both Martha (on NBC) and Rachael's (on ABC) shows featured the ageless crooner Manilow as a musical guest, and Martha was none too pleased. "I've never actually met Rachael Ray," said Martha during her opening monologue, with a rather unmistakable chortle. "I think she's very fun...lively...uh...young woman," continued the domestic queen, racking her brain for adjectival possibilities. "She has Barry on her show today ... Now that's kinda weird."

Martha went on to claim that Rachael had originally scheduled the Manilow show for tomorrow, but for some reason moved up his appearance to today, and then wagged a stern verbal finger in Ray's face, saying, "I don't know ... I think it's not ... great for the artist." Stewart also pointed out that her show was a live broadcast, and show producers flashed the fact that the show was live several times on-air.

A rep for Rachael Ray tells TMZ, "Barry was a fantastic guest, and we wanted to lead our sweeps with the best show we had in the can, and that was Barry Manilow." A call to Martha's rep wasn't immediately returned.

31. Martha is a major ass and always has been. Move over Martha make room for the new kid on the block Rachael Rae. I think she's got a good heart and her recipes are easy to make! Martha's like 75 or something and she should retire.

32. I think that that was really insulting to Martha Stewart that Rachel Ray's show would also have Barry Manilow as a guest. This is the first time that I've heard of it. I missed Barry's performance on Martha, but somehow I feel backstabbed that they would also air Manilow's appearance on Ray's show, in most cases in the same time slot. Where I live, they air both Ray and Stewart's shows in the 10 am slot. Isn't the object to have different singers perform on competing shows? I've never seen such one-upmanship and arrogance on Ray's part. She needs to calm down a bit or she'll suffer burnout, She's only done about 30 shows so far and she's acting like she's been on for 5 or 10 years. I can see why Martha is so angry. Taped show or not, I thought that Rachael's move was downright stupid in the sweeps month. Makes you think that Barry has to scramble from one studio to the next in the same hour if both shows were done live. Having to move all that equipment and his musicians up and down the street in New York to each of those studios to perform those songs. I hope nothing like this EVER happens again on television!

33. Rachael Ray is really great in the beginning, but now, it's called overkill. You can only get so much of a good thing - oops - before you get sick of it. Even her personality and voice have changed. Martha is still Martha, either you love her or hate her, but let's face it ...who in the world has the time or money for some of her recipes? Ray's recipes are at least somewhat affordable, if not boring

34. Oh Martha, please, just shut up! Law of life, there is ALWAYS someone younger, cuter and more hip coming up behind the old ones to kick your butt and take your place. Grin and bare it. You had your day in court, move over and go quietly into the night! I think Rachel is just too much like you Martha. She also knows how to pay that "Diva" game and has you a bit worried! Tee Hee, good. It is time.

35. To all Martha is good yes, a nd she's had her time and limelight, but geez give rachael a chance . i remember her from where i lived working in a sweet store in upstate ny. She isn't pushing herself on anybody there are people behind the scenes who promote her. Why not take the advantage. Maybe her recipes are not to your liking but geez louise they are easy and usually everything a kitchen should have on hand.

38. Rachel Ray does not resemble the cute girl she was on the Food Channel. The makeup they use on her makes her look old and tired...and her bronzed face doesn't match her pink hands. Terrible dark makeup and dark stringy hair...spooky.

39. Rachel Ray is over exposed, she hasnt been on television long enough to develop a sound fan base, she needs room to grow and placing her in the ring to early will undoubtly bring her to her knees. As for Martha she knows what shes talking about when it comes to show business and hooray for her tapping Ray on her hand for being over zealous over airing her show the same time as Martha...R.R has got Oprah behind her and P.R people pushing to hard...she will never garner a warm family name until she earns it...her first step is to learn how to cook, talk and dress, that I bet Martha Stewert can teach her.....

40. Rachael Ray is a swine, just like Ooompa Winfrey.

Look at RR back in 03 she probably weighs 1/2 of what she does now, which is 1/2 of what Oompa weighs.

I have tried several of her recipies and I think my 9 y/o daughter could come up with better concoctions.
